My baby is now 1.

Today is full of mixed emotions.  I don't know if I should be happy that my baby is growing up so quickly or sad because she's growing up so quickly.  I would have to say out of my 3 maternity leaves this one is by far the fastest one. (It's probably because I have 3 kids to take care of.)  I keep saying baby C can still pass as a 6 month old, so maybe I should have 6 more months?  I can only wish.

1 week old
After my LONG horrible pregnancy, the first year with Baby C was a blessing. She's a good baby (I think when it's your third you tend to worry less, which makes everything a lot easier).  I guess she has to be easy going with 2 older sisters. But she is still pretty little, so that might still change. I can already tell she's not one you can pick on. She has already picked fights with her sisters and cousin.

2 months old
Baby C during your first year we took you on a family camp in Camrose at 3 months and you did wonderful.

You went on your first plane ride to San Deigo at 4 months and barely complained.

I love how you love food, you're probably the least picky eaters out of your sisters.

We had a great summer, playing outside, going to festivals and visiting the mountains.

You went on a cruise and then disneyworld at 10 months.

You love playing and watching your sisters.

I know your on the littler side but your personality makes up for it, and I love how your so little.  You will always be my baby!

Love you Baby C! Happy 1st Birthday!

Love Mommy

Breakfast fun

The girls LOVE eating pancakes.  In the past I have always made them from scratch (see below I have added my pancake recipe), because they taste better then the boxed pancake mix....until I discovered the buttermilk pancake mix from Costco.  It so quick that I can whip it up in less then 5 minutes.  All you need to add is water.  so great for a busy morning before school.  There has been a few time when E wakes up and tells me "I want pancakes for breakfast"  I make it in a 2 cup measuring cup, so I don't have to wash extra dishes.  (1 cup pancake mix, and 2/3 cup water)

The girls always ask me to make a mickey mouse head, or the letter of their name out of the pancake, but this time I decided to let them decorate their own pancakes.   I made different size pancakes and got some random stuff I had in my pantry.  They had so much fun.  What kid doesn't have fun when they get to play with their food.

Here are their creations.

  Pancake recipe

2 cups milk
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder

1. Mix all wet ingredients in a bowl, then add the flour and baking powder and mix well
2. Heat Griddle and lightly oil.  Set to medium heat and start cooking.

I usually make smaller sized pancakes for the girls, and they really like it when I make tiny baby loonie sized pancakes (perfect sized, so they don't have to cut them)

Frozen party part 3: party favours

1. Snowman parts

all you need is
- Mini marshmallows
- Pretzel sticks
- chocolate chips
- Candy corn (or long orange candy)

Found this site that had everything.  You just need a color printer and come cardstock.   http://www.shesaved.com/2013/11/homemade-gift-idea-snowman-parts-snack-free-printable.html

2. Snow (white cotton candy)

3.  Paint yourself snowman mugs.

Make sure you buy the paint that can be cured.  Regular acrylic paint will rub right off a glazed ceramic mug.  I ended up buying Martha Stewards glass paints.  You let them air dry for 1 hour, then bake for 30 minutes.

Happy 6th Birthday E!

So  this blog is going to be a little interruption in my frozen party.  But I wanted to show you a picture of the finished product.  I will continue to blog about each part of it later this week.

This is a blog I have to post today.  Why?  My first born is turning 6.  6 years ago we were clueless and unaware of how our lives would change forever.   I still remember exactly what I was doing on Feb 2 2008 (I don't think I'd ever forget).  Her original due date was Feb 13 2008, so she was a nice little early surprise (for those of you who are or was pregnant you know the last few weeks aren't the most comfortable, so 10 days is a total gift).  It's kinda crazy how fast time flies (yes, to the new mothers out there, days can be long, but the weeks seem to fly by).   I can't believe this was 6 years ago.  After 15 hours of labour we received our precious little gift.  She was the sweetest thing ever.  Everyone always ask me what type of baby she was, and if she was hard.  I would say, because she was the first, it made it a little hard, but overall she was a pretty good baby.   I was one of the first of my friend and family to have kids, so I had no one to ask questions too.  Being a new mother, everything was new.

Here are a few pictures of her on her birthday.

6 years ago today, my life changed for the better.  I can not imagine life without you in it

Happy 6th birthday! Mommy loves you! Thank you for being a great and fun-loving girl.  Thank you for being the great older sister to M and C.  I know they already look up to you so much.

Frozen party part 2: decorations

When my daughter asked me for a Frozen birthday party I went straight to google.  Surprisingly there was a few ideas out there. I figured anything snowman or snowflake would work.

I went out shopping to find precut snowflakes, but I was a few weeks too late.  Most stores have already packed them away and put out all their valentines stuff.  Good thing I have a sister who loves crafts. She had a bucket of foam snowflakes she let me use.   I sewed them together and hung them up.

While at the mall, my other sister had a great idea of making tissue paper balls to hang up. We ended up buying 3 different colors.

To top it off, I found how to make snowflakes out of regular paper from http://allstudentscanshine.blogspot.nl/2012/12/snowflake-craft-tutorial.html
