BiBimBap

Hi friends.
Yes it's been a few years since I've actually put up a post.  I've decided to share my recipe for the bibimbap that me and my daughter made the other day.  People have been asking me how I made it and I figured it would be easiest to post it here.

BiBimBap

What you need:
- 1lb of ground beef
- rice
- carrots, julienne
- cucumbers, sliced
- bean sprouts
- eggs
- kimchi
- spinach
-garlic (minced)
- sesame oil
- brown sugar
- salt (I use Himalayan sea salt)
- soys sauce
- hot pepper paste (aka gochujang)

Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp hot pepper sauce (gochujang)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 tsp vinegar
1. First you want to start making your steamed rice (depends on how many people you're feeding, for my family I usually make 2 cups)
2.  Marinate the ground beef with 1 Tbsp of each soya sauce, sesame oil and brown sugar.  Then add a 1tsp of garlic. Then Mix well and leave to the side.

3.  Boil a large pot of water.  Once boiled throw in the bean sprouts and let it cook for about 2 mins.  Take out and rinse under cold water, make sure you squeeze out all the excess water.  Put into a mixing bowl and add sesame oil and salt according to taste.  Set aside.
4.  Boil another pot of water.  Once boiled you can put in your spinach and blanch for about 1 min. Take out and run it under cold water, then squeeze out all the excess water.  Cut the spinach into smaller bit sized pieces (each leaf about 1/3). Now add minced garlic, salt and sesame oil.  Set aside.
5. Next I would cut the carrots and lightly fry them in the pan.  Season with salt to taste. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top

6.  Mix Sliced Cucumbers with 1tsp of the hot red pepper paste and set aside (I also make one with just salt for the kids). You can serve this cold or heat it up a bit in a pan for about 1-2 mins
7.  I will now make the sauce for the rice bowl. Add all the ingredients and mix well.
8.  Now you can fry the beef in a pan until cooked.  Once done set aside
9.  Now all the sides are all done you can start putting the bowl together.  Rice, sauce, then all the veggies and beef.  Once the bowl is done I would top it up with sunny side up egg (or a overeasy egg for the girls.)
10.  When you eat it, make sure you mix it all up and break the yoke. mmmmmm golden delishishness
